This April at Ciné-Real at The Castle Cinema: a film by Jean-Luc Godard — a master of cinematic reinvention — and a night of experimental shorts that similarly push the boundaries of film as a medium. All presented on beautiful 16mm.

Sunday, April 20th at 11:45 AM: Masculin Féminin (1966), directed by Jean-Luc Godard

A portrait of youth in 1960s Paris, Godard weaves together politics, pop culture, and romantic disillusionment in this playful yet poignant study of “the children of Marx and Coca-Cola.”

Thursday, April 24th at 8:30 PM: Experimental Cinema Collection

A rare chance to see works by Andy Warhol, Ed Emshwiller, Scott Bartlett, and Jonas Mekas projected on film. From abstract visuals to diary films and structural experiments, these artists redefined what cinema could be.
